What educators are saying
Description
Ontario's new curriculum includes a Financial Literacy strand as of September 2020. This year-long game will cover all of the expectations in the grade 7 and 8 Financial Literacy curriculum, in addition to providing instruction in Number Sense/Operations, Data Management, and Probability.
Students will create an avatar and compete with each other in a series of real-life objectives, once per week, to see who has the highest net worth at the end of the game. Each week, the objectives increase in complexity as students get more familiar with their finances and the mathematical skills needed to complete their spreadsheets.
Some of the topics covered in the 35 objectives:
· Budgeting
· Taxes: calculating tax, tax incentives
· Investments
· Credit Cards
· Salaries
· Debt & Borrowing

· Student Loans
· Comparison shopping
