The Game of Medieval LIFE - Educational Game Board
- Portable Network Graphics
Description
This is a game board I developed to teach students about life in feudal Europe during the Medieval Era. The game works best with groups of 4-7 players.
The game is designed to be enjoyable, funny, and historically accurate to life for different classes in Medieval Europe. It features spaces referencing daily life, but also major historical events of the era, including things like the Crusades, the Black Death, peasant revolts, and the Magna Carta. Some favorite game spaces of my students include "A Doctor Puts Leeches on You", "Pillage the City of Constantinople", and "Monarchy vs. Papacy".
Players start by rolling to choose what feudal class they are: peasant, noble, or king (the game works best with only one king). These classes will determine much of their performance in the game (the game is intentionally rigged against the peasants). All players regularly benefit from harvests, but are frustrated by the tithes demanded by the Church. As the game progresses, players of different classes react to events differently and gameplay pushes certain classes toward specific historical outcomes.
Game pieces, dice, and scorekeeping materials are not included in this purchase. (I just use pieces and dice from other games when I play it)
