The Earth Is Our Mother

Native American folk song: Also know as Hey Yunga, this is an old Native American song that expresses the original singer’s sense of connection to the world around us, and the desire to take care of the world in the same way that we would take care of our family members that we love and cherish. The chorus, Hey Yunga, is made up of vocables, musical syllables that are not words but still express an important message. Vocables are very easy to sing along to, and this whole song is an immediate sing-along song. This is a good song to teach drumming to, having the students druom along to the chorus, but freeze and point to the earth/sky/trees/rivers n the verses.
