Description

Are you looking for an entire unit on the Early Middle Ages? You have come to the right place. This unit on the Early Middle Ages covers from the Germanic tribes taking over western Europe to the development of the Feudal System which was designed to protect against Viking raids. The resources for this unit include a 135 slide PowerPoint, a copy of the PowerPoint notes, an outline version of notes that students can fill in missing parts of the PowerPoint, and another version of notes which requires more student work and interaction. The different types of notes allow for differentiation within the classroom. Topics that are covered in this PowerPoint include the Germanic takeover of western Europe, the rise of the Franks, the reigns of Clovis, Pepin and Charlemagne, the power of the Church, the development of a monastic lifestyle, the raids of the Vikings, the development of feudalism, the feudal class structure and the self-sufficiency of the Manor System. The material in this unit can be taught in about a one to two week period.
