The Complete Home Visit Guide

The "Complete Home Visits Guide" is everything you need to begin implementing home visits! This guide offers specific meeting goals, planning tips, safety measures, and ice-breakers. I have also designed this resource to include information for both in-person home visits as well as virtual home visits. It is possible and just as powerful both ways!

This guide would work wonderfully for teachers in grades Pre-K through fifth grade though I do believe secondary teachers would benefit from home visits as well.

You can use this guide at the beginning of the school year as you plan your home visits.

WHY HOME VISITS?

The goal of conducting home visits is to provide teachers and families an opportunity to have an informal conversation surrounding identity, interest, hobbies, and learning styles.

Since beginning home visits, I have seen firsthand the positive effects on my students' social/emotional development as well as their academic achievement.

Home visits are important for establishing meaningful relationships with students. They also encourage family engagement, trust and communication building, and accountability.
