This unit is part of our Honors Biology Full Year Curriculum.
The Chemistry of Life Complete Unit was designed to equip students with the key chemistry skills that underpin life processes. This unit is intended to lay a strong enough foundation in chemistry to prepare students to study living systems on an advanced level.
Each 45-minute lesson day begins with bell work that functions as a quiz over the previous day’s concepts. After completing guided notes during the PowerPoint, student understanding is immediately reinforced with targeted activities (full labs, micro-labs, in-class drawings, group activities, etc.). To ensure individual success, each day ends with an exit survey to enable teachers to track each student’s progress.
You will receive 9 days worth of material in a highly organized format:
- Day 1: The Composition of Matter
- Day 2: Atomic Structure
- Day 3: The Essence of Life
- Day 4: The Properties of Water Lab
- Day 5: Chemical Bonds and Reactions
- Day 6: Solutions
- Day 7: Biological Buffers Lab
- Day 8: Unit Review
- Day 9: Unit Test
