What educators are saying

Engaging way to practice missing addends with my students! Missing addends is tricky, so having a creative way to teach this concept and practice it is great. I have my students follow along with whiteboards and they work to crack the case!
I used this with my first graders a few weeks ago. They really enjoyed it. Thank you for your hard work!

Description

This detective themed PowerPoint game reviews the concept of finding the missing addends. The game includes the following components:

**Introduction

**Brief tutorial about how to flip the number sentence around and finding the missing addend through subtraction.

**The students find twenty five missing addends. The answer follows each question for instant feedback. The answer slides also show the students how the missing addend was found through subtraction.

**The students will find the two missing addends to complete number sentences for doubles facts. This round has ten questions.

THE LIGHTNING ROUND: This round will be like electronic flash cards. A number sentence will appear on the screen. The students can say the answer or write it down before the teacher reveals the answer on the following slide.

This activity can be used as an independent center, team game, or whole group with the students solving the problems on their own and then checking them together as a class. Students can answer the questions on dry erase boards, paper, math journals, etc. The answers follow all of the questions so the students will get instant feedback.
