This resource contains three sections:
A. Discussion Questions - There is one question for each chapter, a total of 44 discussion questions with sample answers to go with each one! Use them all, or pick and choose the chapters you want to use. These questions are designed to be higher order thinking and will require your students to retrieve evidence from the text to support their answer. This allows students to really focus their thinking and deeply elaborate on one topic.
* All Discussion Questions come with Sample Answers. *
B. Vocabulary - At the bottom of each discussion question page is a word bank of vocabulary words from the chapter. Each chapter will have four-eight vocabulary words. On the page immediately following, is a vocabulary table where students can fill in their own definition based on context clues, the dictionary definition, and the option to use it in a sentence. However, the students are also given the option to choose a vocabulary activity from the choice board. The choice board includes templates for the following activities:
- Synonyms and Antonyms
- You're the Teacher
- Perfectly Poetic
- Silly Sentences
- Summarizing
- Write a Story
- What's that Tune?
- Draw a Picture
- Design a Product
Vocabulary instruction can be used based on teacher discretion. The choice board serves as an additional option from the basic vocabulary chart that provides creativity and differentiation for students who need it.
*Vocabulary options do NOT come with sample answers.
