What educators are saying
I came across this source when looking for activities to do after finishing The Awakening. My students loved this project and they had a phenomenal discussion! I only used parts of the resource based on the time I had available, but it is a great source!

Description
This is a unit I created for my AP English Literature course, but it can work in any high school English class. Students read Kate Chopin's The Awakening after a brief introduction (presentation included). Then, they do group research presentations on different "waves" of feminism (assignment included). We move on to watch Greta Gerwig's Barbie (notes sheet included), and conclude with a student-led discussion and written reflection assignment (assignment and rubric included). My students had a blast with this unit, and it really brought the issues Chopin writes about in The Awakening to life when we brought Barbie into the equation! I am happy to answer questions about this unit if you contact me.
