Description

This 2 day lesson is an integral part of any World War Two history unit. Please note: if you have already purchased our WORLD WAR 2 CANADA UNIT, this lesson is already included therein.

Students will learn about the last months of WW2, including the Manhattan Project, the Potsdam Conference, the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and the postwar Tokyo Trials.

Students will analyze primary and secondary sources both justifying and condemning the atomic bombing of Japan. By the end of the lesson, students will be able to use evidence to come to a conclusion about the BIG QUESTION: Was the US atomic bombing of Japan justified?

As with all our history resources, this lesson focuses on HISTORICAL THINKING CONCEPTS.

LESSON MATERIALS include Google slides, videos, handouts, discussion questions, primary source analysis, document-based questions, and even an activity on bias in textbooks from around the world! All materials are EDITABLE.

This lesson is formatted for both ONLINE LEARNING and FACE TO FACE. It is also perfect for teaching with Google Classroom.

No textbook or paid resources are required - All readings and materials required for this lesson are included. Just open the lessons and teach!
