The Apple Pie Tree A Storybook Companion

This 31-page packet was designed for use with young children ages 3-6. The book is not included but must be obtained separately.

The activities take into consideration the attention span of preschool and kindergarten students, as well as their need to have engaging interactive opportunities with storybooks. If there is active participation, they will remain interested.

The packet has detailed lesson plans, activities, and large materials (for little hands) for 3 sessions. Activities include:

Session 1: Prior knowledge activity; picture walk with questions; 1st reading; fingerplay

Session 2: Seasons identification (4 cards); matching trees to appropriate season (4 cards); 2nd reading with comprehension questions; comprehension game with 2 levels--visual prompts included with low language demand and higher level questions with no visuals; black and white apple tree reinforcer page (23 cards for each level); repeat fingerplay

Session 3: 3rd reading; story sequencing/oral narrative/story retell (9 cards); predictable book (9 pages); craftivity for predictable book (9 line master pictures)
