Description

Middle Ages, Music

This made-up play was inspired by the tomb of a 13th century knight in a church in England near where I used to live.

  • It provides information on the Celtic ideas of poetic prayer, hospitality, and the Presence of God.
  • It also focuses on the role of knights, and how some women oversaw their homes in the 13th century.

SUMMARY: A mum and daughter are setting up for a Sunday service. The spiritually perceptive daughter feels that two people who have been dead for centuries are not really at rest. How does an angel make things right?

In addition to speaking roles, “The Angel” includes four songs, five Middle Ages poems, dance, choreography…and Latin. The play lines are often written in verse.

Though there is action and some humor, the serenity of the play comes from a faith-based love of God and connection with Christ and the Holy Spirit perspective.

Teachers are saying...

✎“This play went very well with a few actors rehearsing separately and then combining with a choral group who had practiced the songs with movement. The music (medieval chant, original, modern) along with Celtic poetry, really set the peaceful mood, which in turn locked in basic Christian beliefs. Interesting story. Received many compliments from the audience.” – Amazon customer

✎“Rebecca – Thank you for all the wonderful opportunities that you’ve give all my children – in learning music, history, and how to be a godly example to the world. They have no idea of the benefits they have been given through your enthusiastic, warm, intellectual endeavors in History Performers.” – Lisa, parent
