Description
Bring the excitement of The Amazing Race to your math classroom with this fun, engaging review activity! This race consists of four legs through four different locations. Each leg is made up of multiple challenges which require students to work together and draw upon skills they've worked on throughout the year, while also helping them learn about countries and cultures around the world. Some of these challenges are Detours, which allow for student choice by providing two options of tasks to complete.
In addition to the math challenges, each leg has a Road Block. Road Blocks are fun little challenges that one team member must complete; these range from completing a Sudoku puzzle in Japan to throwing fish like the fishmongers at Pike Place Market in Seattle!
Leg 1: Rome, Italy
Topics include: Graphing on a Coordinate Plane, Decimal Operations
Leg 2: Kenya
Topics include: Fraction/Decimal/Percent Conversions, Fraction Operations, Finding Percent Increase
Leg 3: Japan
Topics include: Data Analysis, Equations & Inequalities
Leg 4: Seattle, WA
Topics include: Ratios, Area & Volume, Order of Operations, Metric to Customary Conversions
This resource includes everything you need to put together an incredible Amazing Race in your classroom: clue cards, student recording sheets, answer keys, & tips for implementation. I also included a cover sheet for each leg that tells you exactly which materials you'll need for each challenge during that leg.
