    Description

    Welcome to Teaching Off Trail!

    Bringing the world to your students & your students into the world.

    ***NOW AVAILABLE AS A DIGITAL RESOURCE PERFECT FOR REMOTE LEARNING!***

    [The individual resources have digital versions available!]

    We aspire to have our students write creative, dynamic sentences and stories. Let this work inspire that creative spirit with vivid images, powerful adjectives, interesting information, and guided creative writing they will return to again and again!

    All of my adjective works are written around the theme of the grand state of Alaska because I thought, “what better place to DESCRIBE?!” Using a cohesive theme and powerful visuals will provide your students with another memory anchor to what adjectives are and the lessons learned. Add to that, the pictures and the non-fiction articles on the geography, animals, and plants that make Alaska fantastic will teach them about our most magnificent and radically different state.

    The tasks included in this BUNDLE are designed to inspire students to see the imperative role adjectives play in interesting writing.

    These tasks consist of:

    Alaskan Adjective Cruise:

    • Sketch Duets: partner description and drawing to see how describing words make all the difference;
    • Stick Figure Stories: story writing WITHOUT and with adjectives so they can see how ridiculous stories would be without our beloved adjectives;

    Alaskan Adjective Safari:

    • Adjective Safari: searching for adjectives in a written article to practice identifying them and to expand our adjective vocabulary;
    • Safari Connection Questions: reading comprehension and connection questions to increase the Earth Science learning

    Alaskan Adjective Adventure:

    • Excellent Adjectives: expanding adjective vocabulary beyond “big” and “pretty” to “vast” and “spectacular”!
    • Setting the Stage: using the image and adjectives from Excellent Adjectives to inspire writing a creative setting description

    These tasks can be differentiated for different abilities and ages, with tips included in each work. Alaskan Adjectives is also ideal for Distance Learning because it is so visually interesting and inspires deep, creative work.

    Think about all the skills the students develop with this work: reading informational text, speaking and listening, writing non-fiction and fiction, grammar, and learning and writing about earth science topics! This bundle addresses 33 Common Core State Standards! This is ideal for Grades 4-8...so homeschool families can do this together!

    Check out the video preview to see this work in action...it's so beautiful...Enjoy!

    I hope this work brings you some ease and your students many memories!
