Description
This 58 page reading/writing unit is based upon Bernard Evslin’s novel The Adventures of Ulysses. The writing portion of the unit can also be used with most other versions of The Odyssey.
In addition to vocabulary study, the students will make their own version of Ulysses’ journey—or as I like to call it, “The Good Parts Version.”
In addition to vocab lists, tests, and instructions for the students’ retellings, I have also included some other resources such as:
• a prior knowledge chart for The Iliad
• a summary of The Odyssey
• directions for a persuasive essay based upon the novel
• an objective test for the novel
• a PDF example of a completed written retelling with hand-drawn illustrations
• a typed version of the retelling
• a template for suggested final copy paper
