Description

PerfettoWritingRoom(c) is excited to offer this NEWLY UPDATED product!!! Now with COMMON CORE STANDARDS, lesson plan, and RUBRIC, for this 5-day Guided Writing Activity that culminates in a short story.

This is a Hands-on activity students of all ages have enjoyed. Years later, I have been stopped by students who have told me it was their favorite activity. You can use this with any student, as young as age ten! And yet, college students have written high quality and polished short stories using this intriguing and multi-use method.

YOU RECEIVE:

A) Four-Part Writing Activity with Instructions/goals. (This will take a bare minimum of TWO DAYS to do. For teachers interested in using PerfettoWritingRoom(c) Teaching the Workshop, this activity will take up to a week.

B) Unit Overview with Core Curriculum Anchor Standards.

C.) Tips and Strategies for teachers

D.) Starter Ideas for Students who are Stuck!

E.) 2 RUBRICS! Plus additional Common Core Standards, applicable by activity.

F.) This is CROSS-CURRICULAR and CROSS-DISCIPLINARY. Whether you teach History, Biology, or even work with students in a Camp environment.... simply tweak the contents and the questions for a richer experience. Suitable For all because while at its heart it is creative writing, this lesson uses inference, estimation, and critical thinking skills.

You are able to surprise your students with a writing activity where they must use four of their five senses (no tasting!). There is intrigue, and the element of personal choice regarding what whey write about. Choice promotes enthusiasm and ownership during the writing process.

You will lead and guide your students through a 4-part writing assignment in class.

Students will additionally be challenged to use figurative language as part of the process.

Each part is timed. Please note that students may need or want more time (which is always a good thing in creative writing, as it means they are fascinated with what they are doing!)

This is in the top 5% of writing activities my students have enjoyed. If you choose to purchase it with PerfettoWritingRoom's(c) Teaching the Writing Workshop, it can take longer, but will become an indispensable part of your year. Also, if students read their works, or if you simply have them do in class peer-review and a rewrite, be prepared for a five-day lesson.

Ultimately, the goal is for students to create a full-length short story. I apologize for my lack of "full-disclosure" - this activity, at its best, is intriguing and can border on "magic" for students. You must provide some items you already have....that is all I will say. Please, download away, and look at some of the other lovely items we have at our store.
