Description

Thanksgiving is the perfect time for a little detective work! Make inferences as your students hunt for clues to solve the mystery of Farmer Jeff's missing prized turkey!

In this set of Thanksgiving inference centers, students will become investigators tasked with figuring out who took a prized turkey!

What is this set of Thanksgiving inference centers all about?

Farmer Jeff’s award-wining Thanksgiving turkey was stolen right off his farm! And to make matters worse, the theft occurred just two days before Thanksgiving day!

Authorities have narrowed down the list of suspects to six, but they need YOUR students to help figure out:

  • Where was each suspect the night of the turkey-napping?
  • What was each suspect’s possible motive for taking the turkey?
  • Who stole the turkey?

How do I set up these inference centers in my classroom?

There isn’t too much to prepare when setting up these centers, I promise! If you’re planning to use them year after year (and you’ll want to, I just know it!), many pieces can be printed and laminated for reuse.

You will prepare 6 reusable stations (1 for each of the teachers students are investigating), each with a set of clues.

Each student will need a set of printable sheets to record their inferences about each teacher and a printable introduction booklet that ‘sets the scene’ for the whole investigation!

What is included in this Thanksgiving inference center resource?

  • Detailed teacher instructions
  • 6 printable inference stations where students will ‘investigate’ 6 different suspects
  • Suggested Answers
  • Printable Introduction Booklet (also available as a full-color version to laminate and reuse)
  • A DIGITAL, Google Slides version of the entire activity!

I am always on the hunt for engaging resources that help our students practice their inference skills… without them even realizing it! That’s where this center-based activity was born. I just know your students will love this activity as well.
