What educators are saying

I have broken this unit down to use all of November. My students are so engaged in learning about turkeys and our holidays. Wonderful resource!!

Description

November Activities- This packet is full of math and literature fun activities to be used during the month of November. They are aligned with the common core and include many of the foundational and math skills taught during this time of the year. These activities have been inspired by 3 favorite November books: T is for Turkey, I Know an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Pie, and 10 Fat Turkeys. All of the activities in this packet, except for 2: retelling and ordinal numbers (I Know an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Pie), can be completed without having the books. If you don’t have it, don’t panic! We have provided a You Tube link for it so your students can enjoy listening to the story and then be able to complete these activities.

Here is what the packet includes:

Activities for T is for Turkey: 1) beginning sounds- center and practice sheet 2) ending sounds- center and practice sheets, 3) middle sounds- center and practice sheet.

Activities for I Know an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Pie: (book needed or use link provided) 1) retelling of the story, 2) writing, 3) ordinal numbers center and practice sheet

Activities for 10 Fat Turkeys: 1) counting and cardinality with the number 10. 2) comparing numbers 7-9: greater than, less than, or equal to. Also included is a set of practice sheets.

3) decomposing numbers 3-6. 4) representing numbers 0-10 in a variety of ways.

We have included instructions and some photos for you.

Standards

to see state-specific standards (only available in the US).
Count to 100 by ones and by tens.
Count forward beginning from a given number within the known sequence (instead of having to begin at 1).
Write numbers from 0 to 20. Represent a number of objects with a written numeral 0-20 (with 0 representing a count of no objects).
Understand the relationship between numbers and quantities; connect counting to cardinality.
When counting objects, say the number names in the standard order, pairing each object with one and only one number name and each number name with one and only one object.
