Text Evidence Inference Stations

In these travel-themed stations, students use descriptive setting clues to infer global destinations, then prove their answers with the best text evidence! As they travel to each station, students will update their "passports" with inferences and evidence found in each short fiction passage about places around the world. Groups will discuss the general and specific settings of each passage, making for meaningful collaboration!

With 8 stations provided, students will have plenty of quick practices while moving around the classroom. Clue cards are included to help students who may struggle with inferring, as well as "challenge" extensions to push your students towards higher thinking!

What's Included In This Resource:

• 8 Setting Destination Stations: Students locate text evidence that helped them infer the destination described at that station. Each description is about a paragraph in length, including details about the locations' weather, landmarks, sounds and smells, and more.

• Student Organizers: Passport-style booklet and traditional page options included with editable "Wrap Up" question

• Challenge Questions: Push high-level students to distinguish the general and specific settings of each place within the passages

• Extension Options: Groups add their responses to a folder at each station, then review and evaluate other groups' responses as part of the wrap up activity!

• Answer Key: Lists the general and specific setting being described at each station, along with the best text evidence.
