Description

Use this set of 2 homework assignments on biomes and aquatic ecosystems to provide your students with quality homework assignments on your units on ecosystems. This resource contains 10 printable or digital student pages consisting of 117 questions. As I teach my units on aquatic ecosystems and biomes, I assign a portion of these questions for homework each night. The completed homework assignments provide a thorough study guide for the unit test. You can also use a few questions during class each day to check for student understanding of the concepts being taught.

Choose to use the traditional printable version, or one of the paperless, digital Google Apps versions. Both Google Slides and Google Forms versions are included. The student handouts can be printed or used in the paperless digital format in your Google Drive, Google Classroom, Microsoft OneDrive, or similar. Homework 2: Aquatic Ecosystems

  • Aquatic Ecosystems: The importance of marine ecosystems to life on Earth, how aquatic ecosystems are determined, the abiotic factors of aquatic ecosystems.
  • Ocean Zones: Photic zones, aphotic zones, intertidal zone, neritic zone, oceanic zone, benthic zone, hydrothermal vents, estuaries.
  • Upwellings, phytoplankton, zooplankton, productivity levels in each zone, species richness.
  • Freshwater zones: Characteristics of freshwater zones, flowing-water ecosystems, standing-water ecosystems, eutrophic lakes, oligotrophic lakes, wetlands, bogs, marshes, swamps.

All answers are included in the very detailed 8 page teacher guide that is included with this product.

The questions are of varying difficulty levels. Question types include compare and contrast, matching, fill in the blank, short answer, multiple choice, and modified true/false. Some of the questions are basic and concrete in nature, but most of the questions involve critical thinking and problem solving skills.
