Ten Strips

These are great for measurement. Students can tape them together end to end. This provides a nice connection between Rekenreks and measuring units. Students can fill in numbers into the boxes if they wish or they might just mark their 10's.

I like to use these taped to a whiteboard so students can show jumps on a number line or use them with a clothesline and students can clip number cards or fraction cards along the number line to demonstrate their understanding of units and how they would space different numbers. We used these with fractions this year and the end of 1 ten strip represented a whole (so each square was 1/10th).
