Telling Time Worksheets and Clothespin Clip Cards

Are your ESL students or young learners struggling with telling time ? Are they unfamiliar with the different ways to say it ? These short activities will definitely help them tell the time properly.

This resource contains 3 worksheets and 20 clothespin cards.

The first worksheet begins with a reminder about full and half hours. 

Using the given words, your students will build 2 sentences (What time is it? and What is the time?). In the next exercise, students will write the time indicated on 4 digital clocks.

The second sheet begins with a reminder about quarters and the use of to or past. Students will once again write the time indicated on 4 digital clocks.

The last sheet introduces the minutes not yet covered (five, ten, etc...) and the same kind of exercise with the clocks is repeated one last time

With the 20 clip cards, the students can practice telling time a bit more. On each card, the time is indicated by a sentence. The corresponding digital clock must be found amongst 3.

The complete answer key is also included so students can easily check their answers.
