What educators are saying

My students loved this choice board. It gave them options for different activities to do while still learning about parenting and teen pregnancy.
Great topics and activities for the students to choose from. They love having an option of what they will focus on.

Description

This resource takes a student-centered approach to learning about teen pregnancy and parenting. Very few teens plan to get pregnant, but too many teen pregnancy resources are based in shame and guilt. This resource, instead, allows teens to complete research through internet sources, interviews, and more to come to their own personal decisions about pregnancy and parenting.

This resource is a one-page choice board that includes 9 project options. The topics covered include:

  • budgeting
  • parenting before age 20
  • options when you find out you're pregnant
  • first-person perspectives on adoption
  • pregnancy prevention and planning
  • baby registry wants vs. needs
  • resources available to young parents
  • "where babies come from"
  • how your daily life changes when you have a child

If you want to make these projects even more meaningful, consider putting on a Pregnancy & Parenting Resource Fair featuring your students' completed projects!

It's important to consider the concerns of all your students, not just those in heteronormative relationships. Here's how this resource is LGBT+ inclusive:

  • It does not assume genders for any individuals involved in birthing or parenting
  • Not all project options are about an accidental teen pregnancy
  • It allows for exploration of additional conception options, including IVF and surrogacy, and two of the project options mention adoption
