Teaching Organizational Skills to Unorganized Students

Do you have students who struggle with finding their assignments, turning in their homework, completing long-term projects, or are generally unorganized? Are you frustrated with students who cram all of their assignments into their backpack at the end of the class period and take ten minutes to find their homework in their folders? Do you find that most of your students don't know how to use a planner? Do you just want to know ways to be more proactive and help students learn how to be organized before it becomes an issue for them? This resource was designed for you!

As educators, it is our responsibility to give students tools to help them become successful, not just in the classroom, but into their future. Organizational skills will help them in your classroom, in other classrooms, and in their future jobs and home lives. And unfortunately, organizational skills usually do not come naturally--they have to be taught. This is a resource to help you do just that--teach students how to be more organized.

So many of the teacher resources out there involve how to get yourself organized, but there aren’t nearly enough that are for helping students to become more organized! This resource is meant to be a tool to help you to help your students!

Being pro-active about organization is the best way to combat organizational problems within the classroom, and there are plenty of tips included for how to teach students organizational skills. However, some students still struggle, so there are also ways to help you to help them to be successful!
