Description

This is a collection of supplemental resources for Mythices Fabelae: Chapter 1. These lesson plans and power points may be used to teach the chapter or easily modified to fit the needs of different teachers and homeschoolers.

Includes:

  • Seven-day pacing guide
  • Warm-ups
  • Lesson plans
  • Power points
  • Instructions for review activities
  • Instructions for homework activities
  • Unit Quiz

The pacing guide provides an overview of each day's activities. Included in the same document as the pacing guide are lesson plans for each day. These are based on a 90-minute class period, but the activities for each day can easily be modified to cater to small groups, homeschoolers, or classes of differing lengths. For some activities there are suggestions for modifications to change the length of time as needed, and most activities can be modified to be done as independent work or in smaller class sizes.

These lessons follow an "I do, we do, you do" method of teaching. Each day except for the final one has warm ups, direct instruction, modeled practice, guided practice, independent practice, a closing activity, and ideas for homework. The final day contains the quiz and ideas for review activities.

Each lesson also includes varying degrees of differentiation, which helps teachers cater to different learning preferences. This also makes any further differentiation easier since there is some variation already built into the lessons.

The power points included also provide a series of warm-up activities that aim to teach students about Ovid. This helps teach students about this key historical figure in bite-sized chunks throughout the unit, freeing the rest of the class period to be about grammar, translation, and fun review activities. The power points also include visual references, providing appeal for visually-oriented students.

As always, my goal with this project is to make myths, legends, and histories more accessible to introductory students. This pacing guide is to help teachers and homeschoolers better introduce this chapter to students and give ideas for activities and pacing. Using this guide also helps teachers and homeschoolers save time by having step-by-step guides for each day and the activities for each day.
