What educators are saying

This resource provided the perfect notes and practice problems to help my students understand percent questions as well as work on the vocabulary for percents.
These are well organized. My students enjoyed taking notes and coloring. They were able to use them as a resource for the whole unit.

Description

Excited to try Decorated notes but need a product that will fit inside your interactive notebooks? Then Decorated Note Brochures are perfect for you!

Research shows that students who sketch, color, or doodle while listening to instruction tend to have better recall. These Decorated Note Brochures combine coloring, note taking, examples, and creative visual triggers to help students remember mathematical concepts.

The essential foundation for being able to calculate taxes, tips, and discounts is the ability to find the percent of a number. This Decorated Note Brochure contains notes and visuals to assist students in calculating the percent of a number by practicing using the percent equation as well as the percent proportion. Helpful hints and tips are used to assist students in translating a phrase into the percent equation as well as using part=percent of a whole for more story based problems.

Also included is the output practice page (2 to a page) which includes more practice using the percent equation and the percent proportion.

I simply have my students pick up their page on their way into class. After bell work they can fold and begin coloring the front of their brochure. My only requirements are that students must listen, they must take all applicable notes, and they must stop coloring/doodling when I am finished teaching. They are welcome to finish coloring and decorating after their classwork is complete or at home/in their free time.

I typically give students a few extra problems to complete that they work out on the right side of their notebooks.

Project the template onto your board, screen using a projector or Elmo, or use Powerpoint or your Smart Board software.
