Description

This Google Sheets-based TVM Solver mimics the behavior of the familiar TI-84 calculator application. You can use all the same instructions you always do. Students simply leave the field they wish to solve for blank.

I know how difficult it can be to get a good TVM solver into the hands of your students when they are working from home on a variety of devices.

I also included a Loan Payment Calculator to determine the monthly, weekly, or biweekly payment, given the principal amount, annual interest rate, and term length in years. It assumes the compounding and payment frequency are the same. Sometimes a TVM Solver is overkill for what your course requires! I’ve found this one helpful.

Interpret complicated expressions by viewing one or more of their parts as a single entity. For example, interpret 𝘗(1 + 𝘳)ⁿ as the product of 𝘗 and a factor not depending on 𝘗.
Derive the formula for the sum of a finite geometric series (when the common ratio is not 1), and use the formula to solve problems. For example, calculate mortgage payments.
