For the PRINT AND DIGITAL (Google Slides) version, click here.

WORKBOOK CONTAINS:

  • COVER PAGE + TABLE OF CONTENTS (3 pages)
  • VOCABULARY WORK (11 pages): Each half of the book has 12 vocabulary terms. Activities for each half include definition matching, synonym/antonym matching, multiple choice word work, and usage.
  • CHAPTER WORK (21 pages): Each chapter (20 + Epilogue) has one page of work, which includes a fill-in-the-blank chapter summary and follow-up comprehension questions - short answer, T/F, and multiple choice. The summaries work great as study guide tools, small group activities, class discussions, or to monitor independent reading comprehension.
  • ELEVEN LITERATURE EXERCISES (14 pages): There's a literature exercise after every two chapters, approximately. Topics include: setting, foreshadowing, critical thinking (2), main characters comparison, plot, minor characters, connecting to the story activity (students design a banner), sequencing, cliffhanger, and a movie vs book comparison guide.
  • REVIEWS (5 pages): There is a vocabulary crossword review at the end for all 24 terms. There's also a comprehension crossword review for the book that works great as a test-prep activity.
  • END-OF-BOOK TEST (6 pages): 50-item test with 10 character matching, 1 short answer, and 39 multiple choice questions.

The workbook is available as a black + white PDF, convenient for printing. A MODIFIED version is included for SPED or struggling learners. Adaptations include word banks under fill-in-the-blank chapter summaries, limited choices for some vocabulary work, hints for the sequencing activity, Venn Diagram suggestions, and condensed matching on the final test. Students who would benefit from modified curriculum can complete this COMPATIBLE version along side peers completing the regular version. Key included.
