What educators are saying
So much power in such a short TED talk! The resource is gold, and great to be able to reference back to when students feel like class is getting 'hard'
I had a few students who had actually already seen this ted talk before, but the question sheets are interesting enough that they were still fully engaged with the lesson. I'd say that's a 10/10 :)

Description
Angela Lee Duckworth is a psychology professor and researcher at the University of Pennsylvania. She studies psychological issues related to student and professional performance (things like perseverance, self-control, co-operation, etc.), and is so good at what she does that she was awarded a MacAurthur (Genius) grant.
This talk is from 2013 and discusses how 'grit' (a combination of perseverance and passion for what you do) is a better indicator of success than IQ or social factors like family income, race, etc.
This resource includes digital or printable handouts including:
- Background sheet on Angela Lee Duckworth (including the link to the talk)
- Pre-Viewing Question sheet to gauge your students current understanding of stereotypes and where they come from.
- During Viewing Question sheet to complete as you watch the talk
- Two Options for After Viewing Question Sheets with follow up research tasks, and a paragraph response.
Use any one of the sheets individually or in combination with the others!
All handouts are in Word format and are 100% editable.
Happy teaching!
