What educators are saying

Thank you for the resource. This really allowed my students to gain a deeper understanding of the skills and show what they had learned and mastery of the topic.

Description

• Linear System Global Word Problems (Preview)
• Special Cases Linear System Sort
• Holiday Themed Linear Systems Practice
• New: Linear Systems Lot Game

►A hangman activity/worksheet geared for independent practice of solving two variable systems of linear equations: Regular linear system problems are made slightly novel by the element of hangman. Three difficulty levels include Advanced Elimination, Basic Elimination, and Substitution. Different levels with the same format of problems are perfect for differentiation in the classroom based on ability. This file alone is a 12-page document providing lots of options for use. Detailed instructions, including ideas on how to differentiate with this printable, and an answer key are included.

Linear System Global Word Problems: Students set-up and solve systems of linear equations to answer these global-themed, real-world, word problems. Shawarma, mangoes, mangosteens, rambutans, falafel --a few of the items in these six global-themed linear system word problems using authentic names, items, and prices from five different countries. The problems were created to expose students to a little cultural diversity while practicing content standards. Word document provided to allow the teacher to easily copy and paste into presentation software. Worksheet version of 6 problems is also included with an answer key. See thumbnails for problem example. A FEW pictures included to add spice to the problems.

Linear System Method Sort: After students have learned all methods of solving linear systems have them develop their ability to choose the best method for solving given the situation. Students sort systems by methods and participate in a class discussion defending their position.

Linear System Special Cases Sort: Can students determine the number of solutions by inspection? Students sort systems by number of solutions and participate in a class discussion defending their position. This mathematical argument starter has 25 systems: 9 consistent dependent systems (infinitely many solutions), 8 inconsistent systems (no solution), and 8 consistent independent systems (1 solution). (8.EE.C.8b).

Solving Linear Systems Practice Guides allow students to practice various methods of solving systems by making different combinations of equations. All linear systems will have the same solution, no matter the combination. Great at the end of a linear systems unit for a study guide, differentiation, or in-class practice.

►Assess student understanding of solving linear systems with graphing and substitution with these 3 progressive quizzes. The first is only 2 questions only on solving systems by graphing. The second quiz is 3 questions and covers graphing and substitution. The third quiz is 4 questions and covers graphing, substitution, and a method of choice. Different versions of the same quiz to discourage cheating are provided. Answer key also provided. Quizzes are brief; they do NOT include any word problems NOR any higher level thinking.

3 Powerpoint demonstrations for Substitution, Basic Elimination, and Advanced Elimination: When teaching systems of linear equations, demonstrate the Substitution, basic Elimination, and Advanced Elimination methods of solving linear systems with these 3 animated PowerPoints. I use these presentations to give students the big picture of the steps of each method before they get bogged down in the numbers. To use this product as intended, click "Begin Slideshow" and click the mouse to advance the programmed animations (by animations I mean moving text and numbers -- NOT pictures). The text will NOT appear overlapping in slideshow mode. Send this digital resource out to your students as a study tool. I set the timing of the animations, save as a PowerPoint SHOW (.pps), and share with my students via Edmodo.

File types: Once product is unzipped you will be provided with .pdf, .docx, .doc, and .pptx files.

☝ Please check out the previews at each of the individual products. I want buyers to be tickled pink with their purchase!

$$This bundle keeps improving as new system products are added to my store. Consequently, the price of the bundle also increases. Lock in this bundle at its current rate and enjoy the benefit of all future revisions/ additions!

Solve systems of two linear equations in two variables algebraically, and estimate solutions by graphing the equations. Solve simple cases by inspection. For example, 3𝘹 + 2𝘺 = 5 and 3𝘹 + 2𝘺 = 6 have no solution because 3𝘹 + 2𝘺 cannot simultaneously be 5 and 6.
Solve real-world and mathematical problems leading to two linear equations in two variables. For example, given coordinates for two pairs of points, determine whether the line through the first pair of points intersects the line through the second pair.
Prove that, given a system of two equations in two variables, replacing one equation by the sum of that equation and a multiple of the other produces a system with the same solutions.
Solve systems of linear equations exactly and approximately (e.g., with graphs), focusing on pairs of linear equations in two variables.
Graph the solutions to a linear inequality in two variables as a half-plane (excluding the boundary in the case of a strict inequality), and graph the solution set to a system of linear inequalities in two variables as the intersection of the corresponding half-planes.
