Description
Have fun with Systems of Equations this holiday season!
This bundle includes 6 resources on solving system of equations - with a fun Christmas theme!
For the graphing resource, students solve the 12 worksheet questions by graphing the two equations on the provided coordinate planes. Once students complete the problems, they color in the ornament that contains the solution to the problem on the coloring sheet provided. With the three leftover ornaments, students will need to write their own linear systems that have those solutions.
For the substitution resource, students solve the 14 worksheet questions using substitution. Once students complete the problems, they need to find the solution point on the coordinate plane and write in the letter that corresponds with the point at the bottom of the page to fill in the Christmas riddle. An additional worksheet with 3 Christmas-themed systems of equations word problems (to be solved using substitution) is included that also asks students to write their own linear system word problem.
For the elimination (linear combination) resource, students solve the 13 linear system worksheet questions using elimination. Once students complete the problems, they need to determine the location of their solution (which quadrant and/or axis it is located in/on). They will then use the key to complete the Christmas coloring page.
Seasonal Systems of Equations is a free resource available in my store that features 15 holiday-themed systems of equations word problems. Students then graph the solutions to the word problems on the included coordinate plane and "connect the dots" to find a fun, hidden Christmas picture.
My Systems of Equations Task Cards are a great way for students to practice solving systems of equations by graphing, substitution, and elimination! The task cards do not specify which method students should use to solve each problem so they need to decide which method would be most efficient for each problem. The 20 task cards come in 4 versions - color and black & white, and with QR codes & without them.
The Systems of Equations Game Show is a fun Jeopardy style game show review of linear systems features 25 questions of varying difficulty levels spanning 5 different category topics and makes a nice culminating comprehensive review of systems of equations at the end of the unit. The categories in the game are:
- solving systems of equations by graphing
- solving systems of equations by substitution
- solving systems of equations by elimination
- systems of equations word problems
- miscellaneous linear systems questions
(Please note that the game show is not a Christmas-themed activity and can be used any time of the year!)
Answer keys for all resources in this bundle are included.
