What educators are saying

This was a great resource and had my students thinking critically about how species interact with each other.
This was more engaging than just giving them a worksheet. They also had to think about each match because they weren't examples we had used in class.

Description

Spice up your symbiosis lesson with this speed dating activity! Perfect around Valentine's day to review mutualism, commensalism, and parasitism.

In this activity, students are assigned a desert organism card. On each card students will learn what the organism eats, any adaptations it has, what it needs to survive, and what it can offer other organisms. Students will then go on 5 "speed dates" with other students in the classroom. After discussing what they have to offer, they will decide if the relationship is mutualistic, commensalistic, parasitic, competitive, predatory, or if there is no relationship.

A google slide version of the student dating worksheet is provided for distance learning.
