Description
Most secondary classes begin with Syllabus Day, and nothing is worse than reading your syllabus to a room of high-school students. Some schools (like mine) require teachers to present the syllabus on the first day, but there’s no need for this ritual to be boring!
The information in the syllabus is important for students and parents, so I designed a BINGO game to promote student engagement during Syllabus Day.
Instead of using tokens to mark items on the board, as the teacher covers an aspect of the syllabus, students write relevant information directly on the board. For example, as the teacher describes the late-work policy, the student looks for “late-work policy” on the board and writes relevant details about the late-work policy in the box.
At the end of the game, students should have written down details about various aspects of the syllabus. Each writing opportunity helps students internalize key details about the class. I hope your students enjoy this way to spice up Syllabus Day!
Includes 30 cards so students can play multiple cards or switch cards throughout the game. Each one is ready to print and use! Updated to include a Google Slides option for distance learning or digital use.
