Description

LiteraSee Concepts Illustrated cards depict the principles of teaching structured literacy to students who struggle to read and spell.

There are six types of syllables (actually seven types if you include the schwa). The ability to identify syllable types in words is important because it tells us how the vowel(s) will sound in each syllable.

Syllable division strategies: Learning how to divide a word also gives us insights on how to pronounce the vowel sound in a syllable. The division is noted by the vowels (v) in each syllable and the consonants (c) between those vowels (e.g., vc/cv) First, locate the vowels, then divide using learned strategies.
