Sylla_Bits Syllable Slideshows are helpful in Spanish language or bilingual education classrooms. They're great for syllable awareness, reading fluency in Spanish, and vocabulary.
The year I first used these slideshows regularly, my students began decoding an average of two months faster than previous years. The slideshows were an enjoyable addition to our literacy lessons. My students loved the images!
This series follows a very simple, predictable pattern:
First, students are introduced to one syllable at a time, without any visual stimulation, and asked to say them.
Then, students are required to blend the word entirely without visual clues.
Finally, students are rewarded with an image of what they just read. This gives them the chance to confirm that they have read the word correctly and helps develop vocabulary in young students.
