What educators are saying

Such a cute resource. It was fun seeing my students so engaged and it was funny to see their discussions on the teams they believed would win. But it was also fun to make the math connections on these questions and our classroom lessons.
This was such a fun game to review math fluency and prepare for the Super Bowl. My students loved it!

Description

This is a Google Slides presentation with 18 slides, each with a different math problem related to the 2024 Super Bowl 58 (LVIII). Students will learn fun facts about the upcoming Super Bowl game, while also solving fun math problems. It's specific to this year. It is geared towards 5th grade (where my students are in the year), but could easily be used in 4th grade and higher.

I edit this product every year and upload the new version for all previous buyers. So if you buy this once, you will get the new version every year.

There is also a Google docs worksheet version, with Answer Key.

WHOLE CLASS GAMEPLAY IDEAS:

1. Split the class into small teams. Present one question at a time to the whole class and have them solve in teams on whiteboards. Award points to whichever team answered correctly first OR to whichever teams answer correctly in a certain timeframe.

2. Split the class into small teams. Give each team a different color of sticky notes. Make a 10 x 10 grid on the board with tape. Have teams answer questions one at a time. For any teams that answer correctly, they get to put a sticky note into one of the boxes on the grid. At the end, award points for every 4 in a row, 3 in a row, etc. I like this way because it's not about speed, and it adds some strategy for earning points.

INDEPENDENT PLAY IDEAS:

1. Split class into teams. Give them a set amount of time. Whichever team answers the most correct questions wins

2. Have them work in teams at their own pace- not competitive.

There is a pdf with all of the Google copy links.

Includes basic fractions, multiplication and division with large numbers, subtraction of large numbers, general problem solving skills. You can score points in whatever way works best for your class. Slides can be edited also if you want to add or change questions.

Enjoy!

* I update this powerpoint each year, so you buy this once, and you can download the new version each year
