Summer Packet Bundle for Incoming Kindergartners, 1st Graders & 2nd Graders

This is a bundle of three of my summer packets. It includes summer packets for incoming kindergartners, first graders, and second graders.

Incoming Kindergarten Packet:

This is a collection of summertime worksheets and activities designed for students who will be entering kindergarten in the fall. I taught kindergarten for 12 years and this is the packet I used for my summer school program for incoming kinders. I have found it very helpful for students who may need a little extra support before officially beginning kindergarten and also a great way to reinforce skills for all students who are beginning their academic journey.

This packet targets the skills students need to be successful in kindergarten and also introduces some of the concepts that will be learned during the year.

*Practice Your Name Sheets

*Letter Guides (Zaner-Bloswer and Handwriting Without Tears)

*ABC Board

*Lowercase Letters (cut and glue in abc order on ABC board)

*Uppercase Letters (cut and glue in abc order on ABC board)

*Letter Activities: Two worksheets are included for each letter. On the first sheet, students must identify and color the pictures that begin with the given letter. On the second sheet students practice writing the letter, draw a picture that begins with the letter, identify and circle the letter, and fill in the missing letter for words containing the given letter. Worksheets are formated for both Zaner-Bloser and Handwriting Without Tears handwriting programs.

*Phonemic Awareness Practice: Students color the pictures that begin with the same sounds.

*Rhyming Practice: Students color the pictures that rhyme.

*Number Board: Cut out the numbers and glue them in order.

*Number Activities: One worksheet for each number 0-9. Color the number, practice writing the number, draw and color the amount of objects, and identify and circle the number.

*One to One Correspondence: Match the animals to their food.

Worksheets are formatted for both Handwriting Without Tears and Zaner-Bloser handwriting programs. Two versions of each worksheet are included and all activities are common core aligned.

Incoming First Grade Packet:

This mega packet is the perfect way to keep kindergarten graduates learning and progressing all summer long so that they are well-prepared to enter first-grade in the fall. The pages require no prep and offer fun, interactive activities that make learning fun. A table of content is included, making it easy to find each page and see the common core standard that is being addressed.

* Practice Your Printing (Uppercase) – Trace all uppercase letters

* Practice Your Printing (Lowercase) – Trace all lowercase letters

* Practice Your Letters (A-Z) – One page for each letter, student must practice printing the letter and write three words that start with the letter

*Counting Syllables – Cut out pictures and glue them on the graph according to the number of syllables

*CVC Cut and Paste - One page for each short vowel sound, cut and paste letters to spell cvc words

* Time to Rhyme – Cut and paste rhyming pictures next to each other

*Time to Rhyme 2 – Cut and paste rhyming words next to rhyming pictures

* Silent e Words – Cut and paste letters to spell silent e words, 2 pages

*When Two Vowels Go Walking – Choose the correct vowel pair to put in the middle of the word, 2 pages

*Long Vowel Crossword – Complete a crossword puzzle using long vowel words

*Change It – Change the beginning, middle, and ending sounds of words to create new words.

*Characters and Setting – Read a story and draw a picture of the characters and the setting

*Picture Writes – Look at a picture and write a story to go with it. Use the labels included in the pictures to help with spelling, 3 included

*Read and Draw Simple Sentences – Read sentences containing short and long vowel words and sight words then draw a picture to match

*Roll and Trace Sight Words – Roll a dice then read and trace a sight word in the correct column

*Adding Double: Practice your doubles addition facts

*Adding Near Doubles: Use your knowledge of doubles facts to help you solve the near doubles problems

*Addition Word Problems: Solve the 3-addend addition word problems

*Addition Facts (to 5, 10, 15, and 20) – Practice your addition facts by solving the problems quickly

*Attribute Sort: Sort the attributes by whether or not they are defining attributes

*Comparing Number Sentences: Use the <, >, or = sign to compare two number sentences

*Count to 120: Fill in the blank and partially completed 120 charts

*Defining Attributes: Name a defining attribute for each shape

*Double Digit Addition, Double Digit Subtraction – Practice your double digit addition and subtraction

*Color the Fractions: Color the shapes to match the given fraction

*Geometry: Practice geometry skills (matching 2d and 3d shapes, fractions)

*Find the Missing Number: Find the missing number in the number sentences

*Subtraction Facts (to 5, 10, 15, and 20) - Practice your subtraction facts by solving the problems quickly

*Summer Graph: Ask your friends and family about their favorite part of summer, fill in the graph, and answer the questions
