This watercolor art lesson is a perfect for Women's History Month and to introduce your middle and upper elementary art students to stippling. In this art lesson, students will create a watercolor painting, while learning how to add shading and value with stippling. Students apply understanding of drawing from observation, watercolor techniques and stippling to create the illusion of space and volume. A grid is also provided if you choose to use the grid drawing technique to transfer images. All photos are scaled to the grid and ready for printing. PowerPoint or PDF slides can be shown as a reminder of the steps and tips while creating their watercolor paintings. They include standards, rubric, objectives, vocabulary, materials needed, step by step directions, student examples, and a YouTube art tutorial and well as many valuable printable resources listed below.
