This subtraction with regrouping activity, with both print and digital versions, adds some color to math class!
- Students solve 20 subtraction problems, most of which require regrouping. Then they find the solution number on the coloring page and color with the color indicated.
- Students will immediately know whether or not they solved correctly - if their answer is incorrect, they won't find it on the coloring sheet!

These multi-digit subtraction problems require students to:
- Subtract up to 4-digit minus 4-digit numbers
- Regroup when subtracting
- Solve word problems that require subtraction
In this easy-prep subtraction with regrouping resource, you get:
- A zip file with an UPDATED version AND the original version of this resource, so there are 2 different color by number PDFs in the file.
The UPDATED subtraction with regrouping has:
1) Two print versions:
Version A:
- Problem sheet with 20 questions (includes 5 word problems)
- Coloring sheet
Version B:
- Problem sheet with 20 questions – DIFFERENT questions from version A
- Same coloring pattern as Version A, but different colors
2) One Google Slides version (could also be used in PPT):
- Same problems and design/colors as print version A - this is all on one slide.
- Coloring instructions and link for digital are found in the PDF download.

The ORIGINAL subtraction with regrouping version has the SAME questions for all versions (A, B, and digital).
- This can be used if you’d prefer to have all students working on the same problems, but give them the option of different colors on the coloring sheet.
