What educators are saying

This template has been so great to use as an end of the year activity. Each day my students have been creating two Star Student books for their classmates filled with kind words. It will be a great 1st grade keepsake, is great writing practice, and builds community. Thank you for this product!
Love this resource! I use this every week for the star of the week. My students love writing about their classmates. My students light up when I give them the book at the end of the week. Great for building a positive classroom community.

Description

Want a consistent way to build classroom community, as well as students' self-esteem and leadership skills? Have a Star Student of the Week Award or Star Student to spotlight in your class each week throughout the school year! Students will write compliment cards for the student of the week which can be compiled into a Star of the Week Compliment Book.

With this student of the week award, you can have the whole class brainstorm and share compliments about the Star Student of the Week. Students then use the included writing pages with this resource to write a compliment and illustrate a picture for the star. All of the compliment card pages can be put together in a book for the Star Student to take home.

Please see the preview for visuals of what this star student of the week resource includes:

  • Teacher instructions
  • Sample book cover page and parent letter
  • Book covers for grades K-3 with 2 different design options ("Star of the Week" or "Star Student"). Covers can be edited to customize the student name and school year
  • 4 options for student writing pages ("Star of the Week" or "Star Student" with dotted lines or regular lines)
  • 4 options for Parent Letters (Ready-to-Print or EDITABLE letters with the heading "Star of the Week" or "Star Student")

The Star of the Week may also decorate a poster to be hung up in the classroom all week long (poster not included with this download- many are available for purchase on Amazon or in teacher stores, or you can have students can make their own on regular poster board). The resource does include a parent letter to send home explaining that their child is the Star of the Week and when to decorate/return the poster.
