Student Self Assessment and Coordinating S.M.A.R.T. Goal

Wonderful lesson plan for upper elementary/middle school students. This lesson involves having students take a self-assessment where they must self rate their progress in the areas of: initiative (participation), organization, respect for school procedures, work habits and working with classmates. For example, I participate in class discussions and activities (options are: never, sometimes, often or always). After completing the self-assessment, students are instructed to identify an area where they need to improve and create a goal. Then, each student creates a S.M.A.R.T. goal flip book. These books are a child-friendly way to learn what a S.M.A.R.T. (specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, timely) goal is and how to create one. This is a fantastic activity to do at the beginning of the year or any other time!
