Description

Make your students think like the teacher! With some guidance, students will consider and select music for a choir concert. They will be guided to consider a range of criteria as they search through different repertoire for different level choirs (or adapt the assignment to fit your own program!). Once the concert is programmed, students will either choose 3 songs to defend (student choice written answer or powerpoint presentation) or make a program for the concert.

Work on this in class, or at home, this project works best for classes that have access to computers (in a lab or 1 to 1). Could be done in 2 class periods, or stretched to 4. Works as a sub-plan or in-class project. This is a great way to get the students thinking about the music they sing, and as an optional extension, to give them input on repertoire selected.

Originally used for choir, but can easily be adapted for band or orchestra.

Included:

-Assignment sheet with instructions and resources

-Guided spreadsheet

All materials are fully editable Google Docs. What works for one classroom won't fit another perfectly- feel free to take this and make it work for you!
