    High school students will soon be faced with the realities of paying for higher education. Give them the tools they need to make educated decisions about their financial future. This product contains a Microsoft PowerPoint Presentation, 2 graphic organizers (FREE), 2 internet research activities, a scenario-based activity, a write the room scavenger hunt and an article writing activity with a rubric. This lesson covers student loans and other financial aid options.

    Start with a PowerPoint Presentation on student loans. Utilize the free graphic organizer by showing videos on student loan perspectives (videos NOT included). Then have students use the Internet to research key characteristics, advantages, and disadvantages of Direct Stafford Unsubsidized Loans, Direct Stafford Subsidized Loans, PLUS Loans, grants, work studies, and scholarships. Next, students will examine the actual cost of student loans using an online student loan calculator and respond to two students in an email format about financial aid options. Follow up with a write the room scavenger hunt to practice student loan terminology in a fun way that gets students moving in the classroom. Finally, assess student mastery by getting students writing about various student loan and financial aid option topics. In this activity students will research various financial aid and student loan topics and write an article for a financial publication.
