Description

Students will refer to structural elements of stories and a poem, and explain how a series of sentences, paragraphs, lines and stanzas fit together to provide the overall structure of the text. Specifically, students will identify and describe the role parts of a text have in developing a story's plot and/or its elements (setting, main characters, problem, solution).

These reading comprehension worksheets have a mini-lesson and reference notes at the top to serve as an anchor, followed by a fictional reading passage (or poem) and several questions.  Tips are included next to some commonly asked story structure questions to mentor students on how to best answer them.  Use as test prep, or to teach and practice the fundamentals of answering questions that refer to structural elements of a text.
