NOTE: This resource uses American English and is not editable.
TEACHER TIP: While some of these cards are fairly straightforward, others are more challenging and a few may have more than one answer. This may result in some of your students getting a few answers that differ from the ones provided in the answer key. If the student can justify his or her answer, then it can be considered correct. Cards focusing on theme are especially challenging. This increases the rigor of the activity and can be a great opportunity for discussion and debate!
The terms "conflict" and "resolution" are used instead of "problem" and "solution". While both are acceptable, conflict and resolution are more accurate in a literary context and are generally used in the upper grades. If you use problem and solution, this is a great time to introduce alternative vocabulary.

Here’s what teachers are saying:
✏️ "We LOVE task cards in my class and this was a great addition to my collection. This was a great activity for them to do with a partner during stations." -Charity M.
✏️ "I have an extremely active group this year that thrives from scaffolded, differentiated instruction/activities, so I knew this resource was perfect for my students. My reluctant learners seemed to do well with completing one task card at a time, instead of seeing ALL of the work ahead of them on a worksheet. I varied the number of task cards I assigned students based on practice they needed at the time." -Sarah P.
✏️ "I paired these task cards with an open ended game. I appreciated the short passages for my students with disabilities. They did not get overwhelmed and were more likely to practice the skill. The passages were appropriately written and I appreciated being able to practice the skill without needing too much reading." -Miss J.
