Description

Two week unit!

Day 1-
Have a discussion on how people can make their money grow. Introduce vocab for unit. Hand out Stock Market passage and answer questions about reading.

Day 2- 3
Vocab matching sheet quiz. Discuss dangers of investing in stocks. Hand out Danger in Stocks handout and answer questions.
Discuss stock symbols. Have students search symbols for 4 teacher chosen stocks and check progress of the stocks together across the week. Tell students they have $1000 to invest. They will choose how they want to spread their money out across the four stocks.

Day 4-
Students will chose 3 stocks from a list to buy. They will chart the 5 year progress of the company, which can be found on yahoo finance. (After they search their company, there will be a graph with 5y under it that they can use to see results.)

Day 5-
Graph 5 year results for each company. Talk about how they will check the stock price 6 more times throughout the year.

Day 6- 10-
Students will create their own product to sell to classmates. The goal is to convince classmates to buy stock in their company. They must include a company name, stock symbol, price of stock, product name, jingle, etc.
