9. Vocabulary and Grammar Review with Spanish Idiom
Students discover the hidden Spanish idiom by identifying different general vocabulary words from different categories (i.e. body parts, numbers, colors, animals, foods, job titles, family members, and months of the year.) After identifying the words according to their categories, the students then follow the directions and color them accordingly. If students do not have crayons or colored pencils, they can simply cross out the words instead. The blocks that remain will reveal the Spanish idiom “Zapatero a tus zapatos.” In English this means, “Each man after his own trade or stick to what you are good at”. Next, students will discuss the meaning of this idiom with their teacher.
10. The Crazy Shoe Contest
Students are given the opportunity to be creative. First, they choose one shoe verb. Next, they draw a shoe (any kind of shoe, boot, cowboy boot, rain boot, etc.) Then, they conjugate the verb they have chosen inside their drawing. You can have a contest in your class to see who created the best shoe verb.
10. ¿Qué quieres hacer?
First, students put a check in each box next to the activities they want to do this weekend. Then, they write a sentence for each one using the grammatical structure “querer + infinitive”. Finally, they interview their partner about their weekend plans.
11. Weekend Activity Chart
Interpret the chart and answer the questions using shoe verbs.
12. Conversation Cards
There are 24 conversation cards in this unit. There are directions for a guided pair practice, a mingle activity and a vocabulary game. This will help to get your students up and moving around the classroom as they speak Spanish with each other.
Take a look at what some happy buyers had to say about this resource:
“This whole set was super helpful in laying out a nicely scaffolded lesson on stem-changing verbs, starting from basic notes to quick sorting, to practice. I supplemented with other activities as I went along, but it provided a great outline to get my students where I wanted them to go.”
“Best activity!!! My HS students enjoyed this very much!”
