Description

Staying on topic with main idea, main character, and key details for remaining on topic during writing activities becomes less of a struggle for our students with special learning needs. This 100 page writing prompt worksheet packet is aligned with state academic standards for writing and IEP goals for mastery and skill progression for Special Education, speech and language skills, and during inclusion writing activities.

This IEP goal skill builder worksheet packet focuses on staying on topic during the writing process and including key details, main idea, opinions, and predictions. This IEP Goal Skill Builder writing picture prompt packet is adapted for students in grade level 1st-5th and above, learning about writing sentences and staying on topic using key details, main topic, and write thoughts and opinions in a cohesive order based upon grade level and writing skill level. Each worksheet includes two picture choices to write about and data collection for the teacher to gather IEP goal information.

WHAT IS AN IEP GOAL SKILL BUILDER WORKSHEET PACKET?

An IEP Goal Skill Builder worksheet packet promotes independent work skills for students during academic follow-up lesson, seat work, inclusion in General Education setting, a resource for home school, or skill reinforcement. For On-Topic Sentence Writing :

(1.) Given a choice of two picture topic prompts which may include people, places, and/or objects, STUDENT will generate an idea for writing ___(# of) sentences by writing about a topic using key details, with 80% accuracy, in 4 out of 5 opportunities, by MONTH, YEAR.

(2.) Given a choice of two picture topic prompts which may include people, places, and/or objects in order to generate an idea for writing a story, STUDENT will choose one topic and verbally provide up to four details, predictions, or opinions related to the topic, to organize thoughts and ideas to compose sentences, with 80% accuracy, in 4 out of 5 opportunities, by MONTH, YEAR.

(3.) Given a picture and a “picture walk-through” led by an adult or peer, STUDENT will reveal real or presumed details about the picture based upon observation, prior knowledge, or personal experiences, in order to write up to ____(number of) on topic sentences, with 80% accuracy, in 4 out of 5 opportunities, by MONTH, YEAR.

EXPANDING AN IEP GOAL FOR SKILL PROGRESSION:

(4.) Given two picture topic prompts which may include people, places, and/or objects to aid in independently generating ideas to compose on-topic sentences, STUDENT will compare the people, places, or objects by writing descriptive on-topic sentences, with 80% accuracy, in 4 out of 5 opportunities, by MONTH, YEAR.
