What educators are saying

This is great resource to include in a lesson. My students really got into it and we turned it into a competition to see who could be the first pair to solve it. Will definitely use again!
This was a great review for my Physical Science students, several commented that this activity helped them understand and recall this content.

Description

Students will complete a fun domino-style puzzle. The puzzle includes 20 states of matter review questions. The questions focus on the properties of solids, liquids, and gases and how temperature affects particle motion (NGSS MS-PS1-4). This activity is a fun alternative to a standard states of matter test review. Click the preview button to see the specific questions.

I have included two different sizes of domino templates. The one-page template is ideal for independent work or as a partner activity. The larger, 3-page domino template is best for groups of 3-4 students

This product contains:

★ Two different sizes of domino templates: small (one-page) and large (three-page). The small template includes 10 different colors. The large template comes in black and white, but you can copy it onto colored card stock.

NGSSMS-PS1-4
Develop a model that predicts and describes changes in particle motion, temperature, and state of a pure substance when thermal energy is added or removed. Emphasis is on qualitative molecular-level models of solids, liquids, and gases to show that adding or removing thermal energy increases or decreases kinetic energy of the particles until a change of state occurs. Examples of models could include drawings and diagrams. Examples of particles could include molecules or inert atoms. Examples of pure substances could include water, carbon dioxide, and helium.
