Star of the Week in PDF

After reading The Day the Monster Came to School I introduce the All About Me poster to the class. I explain to the class that each week I will choose a student to be the star of the week for the following week. You can choose to pick students alphabetically, based on their behavior or based on their friendship skills. I send the student home with a Star of the Week note, All About Me poster, & a face for the student to color. I display the student’s poster on the board for the week and on Friday the student tells the class about their poster and reads their favorite book to the class. Since my students are in kindergarten I usually read their book to the class for them. One year I had the student’s parent or older sibling (if in the same school) come read their book to the class.

Students can illustrate a picture of their family, their favorite food, their favorite hobby, their favorite toy and a picture of them on their All About Me poster.
